I have n’t watch much ofAhsoka . Not just in the sense that there are onlytwo episodesof her show presently released , but in the sense that I have n’t catch much of theanimated showswhere she record up . I have n’t seen all ofClone Wars , I’ve got no memory ofTales of the Jedi , and I ’ve dipped into maybe three episodes of Rebels , just to see what it was about . I did read the novel , Ahsoka , which was categorically fine , but I ’m playing out a much adept rendering of queer anti - agricorp hardscrabble belligerent in my Orbital Blues drive .

Is she a Jedi or is n’t she ? Does she manage about the rising or does she like about her former master , Anakin Skywalker , infamously known as Darth Vader ? How does she feel about any of her associate and … I guess … friends ? I really do n’t know , and I ’m diffident if this is a fault of the character reference ’s fragmented on - screen chronicle or a failure of Ahsoka ’s piece of writing .

The bombastic job with Ahsoka , the show , is that after two episodes I ’m wondering why we ’re focusing on Ahsoka at all . Sabine Wren , another persona who read up in Rebels , seems to have a much inviolable plot , character , and momentum throughout the two episodes of Ahsoka . She ’s also a Mandalorian , and we have a orotund rolodex of on - projection screen Mandalorians to mention to , so for someone like me who has only reckon the live action shew in full , Wren seems the rude main quality .

The show is alone watchable without know who these case are , but without any real grasp on the tie between Ahsoka Tano , Sabine Wren , Hera Syndulla , and Ezra Bridger , many will be leave experience insensate towards the whole endeavor . The first two episode are less about Ahsoka and much more focussed on this expansive , previously - look - on cast . Which is also thwarting , because the new fibre — the Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth , the Sith master Baylan Skoll , and his apprentice Shin Hati — are incredibly interesting . Without the gist of expectation that comes from being a darling character on some other show , these three were able to emerge as fully formed and necessary character , something that Ahsoka give out to do with its leash .

The problem I ’m tend up against is that the show seems to want me to make out who these people are and their connections and relate to the story through their personal emotional struggles . This is n’t a show about Ahsoka , it ’s a Rebels subsequence and it is n’t shy away from that . The reliance on classical Star Wars plots — map , powerful chosen ones , fractures between Jedi and Padawan — realize Ahsoka gentle to interpret , but without a built - in love for these character , it ’s in service of an finally boring patch that we ’ve all seen before . I would n’t heed a character - drive show , but I do n’t bed these people and Ahsoka does n’t do enough to make me handle . The unsound part is that I ’m not that odd about these character either ! rebel is 75 episodes over four seasons and it can not be deserving it just to sympathise the intricate web of emotional connection going on in this show .

So can you watch Ahsoka without view Rebels ? Yes . You ’ll get it , but you ’ll probably see the show rather uninspired , and you ’ll wish that Sabine Wren had been the primary character instead . Hopefully Ahsoka can find more personality in the next few episode . Is there a map for that ?
