While it ’s not causingHeartbleed - level of scare — yet — this news is a trivial disconcerting : Google has discovered a vulnerability in an older version of SSL , which basically keeps everything we do on the internet protected .
There ’s a statement onGoogle ’s security blogabout the glitch , which they ’re calling POODLE :
Today we are publishingdetailsof a vulnerability in the design of SSL version 3.0 . This vulnerability allows the plaintext of safe connections to be forecast by a mesh assaulter .

Should we freak out out ? Yes and no . This rendering of SSL is old—15 long time one-time — and most sites do n’t use it anymore . However , sites often apply older version as a backup which might trigger the exposure , and masses who ’d want to raven upon someone ’s online security have path to trick sites into using the vulnerable version .
Googlehas some tipson how to incapacitate a pullout to 3.0 and if everyone would follow their guideline it would mostly solve — or at least seriously mitigate — the problem . But like we see with Heartbleed , trying to get every website on the internet to commute the style it does something is damn nigh impossible . [ GoogleviaYahoo ]
