Many Game of Thrones devotee are anxiously awaiting that crack - ill at ease moment inseason eightwhen Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen realize that they ’ve boned a close congener . But according to one of the showrunners , as well as the actors themselves , the reveal could alsotear them asunder — because Dany might not permit anyone block her path to the Iron Throne .
In an audience withTV Insider , carbon monoxide gas - showrunner D.B. Weiss shoot the breeze about how Samwell Tarly found out last season that Jon is actually a Targaryen and next in product line to the Iron Throne ( not to mention he ’s technically Dany ’s nephew ) . The “ R+L = J ” twirl was actually revealed in season six — but now that Jon ’s well protagonist knows the truth , it ’s only a matter of time before Jon finds out too … since it ’s the last time of year of the series .
“ From a dramatic point of view , it makes thing interesting , because the story is no longer about who Jon ’s parents are . It ’s about what happen when Jon finds out , ” Weiss said .
So here ’s the question : What will happen when Jon Snow finds out ? After all , he ’s not exactly interested in becoming King of the Seven Kingdoms and has swear allegiance to Daenerys as she search to assert her title . Would he simply keep it to himself , perhaps distancing himself from Dany because ( ew ) they ’re in reality touch ? Well , according toKit Harington , it ’s not that easy . Because Jon is like Pinocchio : He can not separate a lie . Or at least he ’s not presuppose to .
“ Jon is someone who plays by the book . He can not lie , ” Harington said . “ Finding out about Dany would be very hard for him . ”
Emilia Clarke also consider in during the interview , adding that Dany finding out that Jon was in reality next in air for the Iron Throne would “ turn off deep”—since not only has she fall in making love with him ( that ’s word to me ) , but she ’s also on a womb-to-tomb seeking to avenge her category and take her place on the Iron Throne . If it turn out it ’s supposed to be someone else on the throne , will she turn away to take over it ? That could lead to a disastrous conflict for the two of them .
Though know George R.R. Martin and his taradiddle , they ’ll probably end up set out married and avoiding the whole problem anyway .
