Publishing rumors about Steve Jobs ’ health is one of the most distasteful thing I ’ve done in a long sentence . Let me just get this off my chest .

Professionally , I think we did what we were suppose to do , and allow me be clear , I am majestic of the piece of work I did with Jesús Diaz on this series . But in person , I finger very different about the piece of writing we did on Steve ’s wellness . I think this is a practiced case of the kind of stale investigating that make daily the great unwashed hate journalists . And over the last two week , I ’ve hat my line of work and sometimes , myself , too .
We pick up a lot of ill will for covering this topic . What ’s stupid is that most of these people still missed the spot of why it is wrong . Other traditional diary keeper have complained to us about the techniques and styles that we ’ve used to report these rumour . Investors have complained and threatened to action because we ’ve anguish the stock . Some of my own writer even had the nerve to suggest I did it for dealings alone , while others think that I should n’t even be compose this post at all , because it ’s tacky . I would like to take this moment to narrate these citizenry to keep out the fuck up and thrust these reasons up your asses .
FUCK YOU APPLE INVESTORS WHO HAVE save ME HATE MAIL . If you do n’t have the balls to have the stock through some rumors you think are false , push aside THE RUMORS OR deal THE STOCK !
FUCK YOU OTHER JOURNALISTS WHO WROTE ME HATE MAIL . Almost all of you who did n’t like our source are doing some really nasty backpedaling , and consulting the talking fountainhead witch doctors and analysts looking for information . There is no data there , you jerkoffs !
THESE STORIES ARE NOT ABOUT TRAFFIC ! WE DON’T EVEN GET TRAFFIC fillip ANYMORE ! Sure this post is tacky , I do n’t care . At this very moment , I am very self aware that I ’m being a tacky , wild , crazy person . I just ca n’t heed to another person miss the point of why it ’s shitty to cross Steve ’s wellness like we , the press , have .
Writing about a man ’s health , trying to figure out if he ’s dying or not by talking to third - company expert doctors , checking statistics for Whipple routine selection rates and timelines , checking in with source who cognise people who know people who have heard that he ’s dying — they’re all basically indecent thing to do .
I want to apologize to everyone who have a go at it Steve , everyone who ’s known anyone who ’s been sick that ’s been get over in the military press , and my parents , who are probably ashamed I ’m tracking a man ’s health so rabidly at work , and elevate me to be better than some journalist / vulture dickhead .
I ’d like to apologize to Steve . I met him once , and , uh , I think he complimented me only to make a snipe at Engadget , but he was very dainty while using me to afflict his enemies . Do n’t get me wrong : I have to do my chore as long as I work here . But when someone is nice to you , personally , it ’s a terrible thing to later compose story hypothesizing his dying is imminent . The truth of his actual state of health really is inconceivable to divine , no matter how many talking head doctors I verbalise with or statistics I check . But this is not about the fact or the stock or the reportage or the truth . It ’s about the fucking sentiment and it ’s about manners and plow people well when they ’ve been good to you . And Steve , like many other of the founder of this industry , has been very practiced to us .
When someone says they do n’t finger well , I think you ’re supposed to say “ I hope you finger better . ” It ’s not just a formalness .
Get this : I just got yelled at by a writer of mine who thinks that Steve is dying , and that it ’ll be a farce to send such wishes because it ’ll look wicked to say get better when there is no Leslie Townes Hope . I differ . The intact full point of enounce it is to express hope . And if you do n’t have Bob Hope that sick people can get better , statistics and blab out head doctor testimonial be damned , that ’s a severe defect in human spirit . Even if you admit that someone may very well be die , you do n’t have to say goodbye until they are actually gone . I believe the author here is a honorable person and a fine gift , but I do n’t think he understood my perspective and he injure me when he misunderstood my intent .
Again , it ’s not just a formalities to say I desire you palpate good . The unquestioning message and subtext to express here is extremely authoritative to me . It ’s about hope , and it ’s good will , and it ’s respect . Respect for a military man who saved me from have to manage with Windows , and who has left a dent in the world . I cerebrate that it also sends a content that that person who is sick is not facing the sickness alone — that there is at least one more person who has the same hope they do , and that is that somehow they get good . No matter how sick they are . If I were sick , no matter how dire , I would appreciate someone state this to me .
