You asked , and now our guest editor Edgar Wright is answer . Will you ever do TV again ? Where did Jason Schwartzman ’s mole go away to on the Scott Pilgrim DVD cover ? Who ’s funnier Nick or Simon ?
Here ’s a video clip of him answer a few of your questions , in the flesh . Sorry we could n’t include them all in the clip — but here are all of the answers he gave .
What part of the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel did you want to admit in the film that you could n’t because Bryan Lee O’Malley was still indite the script ?

There ’s nothing really that I missed too much because the script and the books were kind of developed in bicycle-built-for-two . We would be grow as Bryan was pen the Quran . But they became two different thing quite early on , because we fuck that we had to distil the metre line of the Book . So we always see the film as a bizarro / alternative reality rendering of Scott Pilgrim . There are great sequences in the books that would have been interesting to see on film , but not with the sort of budget that we had [ Laughs ] . And not with the distance of prison term that we had . But there are some things that work good on the page … There are a couple factor from the last Christian Bible that would have been interesting , but I ’m not unhappy with what we did .
What was the one scene that you had to rationalize from the film that you are most excited for people to see on the DVD ?
I think there are a lot of thing that hoi polloi will find interesting . ordinarily things that have been deleted have been delete for a reason , so there ’s nothing that I needfully missed … it becomes a unlike movie . If I was being super , super indulgent I would probably play all of the song at full length . So at least you get to see those on the DVD in their entirety . Because I think the songs are great and something like the “ Black Sheep ” song , it ’s nice to pick up the whole thing .

Are you go to ever act upon with Bryan lee O’Malley on anything again ?
I do n’t know . I intend sort of , Bryan is kind of envision out what he want to do next … I conceive the two of us are kind of in retrieval , post - film / place - books . I just catch him , I was just in Toronto doing printing press for the Blu - Ray , and we work to this screening of the cinema at the Bloor which was absolutely bananas . I ’m so glad we did it because it kind of feel strangely like having a ten - twelvemonth day of remembrance viewing three calendar month after it came out , hoi polloi in costume and outcry along . I opine Bryan was quite shell - blow out of the water by it as well . It was in effect fun . He ’s kind of save quiet about what he ’s doing next , and we ’ll see . I ’d unquestionably work with him again , because he ’s a great collaborator and I think we have on well .
Who is your best-loved Scott Pilgrim universe character ?

It ’s difficult to pick one . I guess everybody loves Wallace Wells , so he ’s pretty awesome . In terms of the character that I sympathise with the most , it ’s for better or for bad Scott Pilgrim . It ’s risible sometimes people say , “ Do n’t you call back Scott Pilgrim is a jolt sometimes ? ” And my answer is , “ Do n’t you feel that when you were unseasoned , you were a jerky sometimes ? ” And I sure enough see the things that he does in the books and the films and I mean , yeah I was like that once , possibly I was like that this week .
Why is Gideon [ Jason Schwartzman ] missing a groin on the top of the Scott Pilgrim DVD ?
I make out ! Somebody point that out to me , that Jason is missing his mole , we now decided that the understanding he ’s leave out his mole is because it ’s too aphrodisiacal and the Wal - Mart would n’t stockpile it because it was too sexy . That ’s not true .

So many of your movies utilize foreshadowing . For representative in Shaun of the Dead Nick ’s character is told to “ go live in the shed , ” and then by and by he is encounter living in a shed . How often does that happen while shoot , or is this all plan out ?
That particular eccentric of foreshadowing , that come in the writing . I love doing that , Scott Pilgrim , Shaun of the bushed and Hot Fuzz all have that kind of dialog , nomenclature and metaphor that forecast later events … I believe we just try and practice a lot so the dialog feels natural . On the three films I ’ve done I do n’t really do a great deal of extemporise , it ’s moderately much set in stone . But we do rehearse a lot .
Who are the former filmmakers that influenced your workplace ?

Alfred Hitchcock and Sergio Leone and Louis Benoit is a pretty good triplet straight forth . Hitchcock is always astonishing because , there are some directors who are storytellers who do n’t make their bearing feel , and can evidence a write up and get great performances and the manus of the manufacturing business is not inevitably evident . Hitchcock , I think , was belike one of the first hoi polloi who you felt was really kind of bally with the interview . He was in control and he was some malevolent puppeteer . I love his films and I love the way that he is constantly play with the audience and the form . Just passel of really cunning ways of wrong - footing you and distract you . He ’s have intercourse as being the superior of suspense but he was also a really funny manager as well . He was one of the first managing director I could see get veridical playfulness with the form .
What is your pet picture show this year , besides Scott Pilgrim ?
There ’s been a couple . I like The Social web . I wish Black Swan , Enter the Void , Toy Story 3 , 127 hour . There ’s a whole bunch of ones actually and it ’s not over yet , either .

Do you have any plans to direct a TV series or mini - serial ?
peradventure , if it was the right thing . I ’ve been watching a quite a little of TV , catching up on lots of stuff that I missed whilst I was working . I ’ve been watching a lot of Eastbound & Down . I watch all the comedy shows , 30 Rock I love . mayhap if it was the right thing . I ’m really enjoying The Walking Dead so far , so mayhap , if it was the right thing .
Who is funnier Nick Frost or Simon Pegg ?

I recollect even Simon would harmonize that Nick is probably the funniest someone that either of us have met . Nick Frost is a funny son .
telecasting by John Siegel .
