Just revealed at the BBC ’s MD Who panel for San Diego Comic - Con @ Home — attended by the Doctor herself , Jodie Whittaker , and companions old and new Mandip Gill ( who plays return hero Yaz ) and John Bishop ( the mysterious new Dan , revealed at the climax ofthis twelvemonth ’s New Year ’s Clarence Day special)—the trailer picks up in the wake of the Doctor and Yaz ’s affecting farewell to Graham and Ryan at the goal of “ Revolution of the Daleks , ” as they move on from their acquaintance decide to call it throw in on time locomotion by , well , promptly finding a raw booster . Alongside the comer of Bishop as Dan , one newly break guest actor for the season was Game of Thrones ’ Jacob Anderson , who made a special appearance to introduce his major new character , Vinder . Anderson will , alongside other undisclosed node principal , will toy a gravid theatrical role across multiple episodes of the young season . “ I get to play one of my favorite people that I ’ve ever represent , ” Anderson said of Vinder , in a pre - recorded message for the instrument panel . “ This is a real lifetime puerility dream , to be a part of Doctor Who , and even moreso to be in Doctor Who with Jodie , and Chris , who I ’ve worked with before , and meet Mandip and John … it ’s a dreaming come true . ” As well as new creatures and localization , it was also teased that the time of year will see the return of some conversant monster from the show ’s past .
