We ca n’t ever reject the urge to place a beautiful new dinosaur image from paleoartistEmily Willoughby . This is a Utahraptor , who live during the Cretaceous period in ( you think it ) region that are now part of the westerly United States . The plumage search awe-inspiring .
This image is based on new research about the anatomy of this dinosaur , done bypaleoartist Scott Hartman .
Writes Willoughby :

Scott Hartman has recently released his silhouette of the newUtahraptorreconstruction to Phylopic . Even though the paper has n’t in reality come out yet , Scott sacrifice me permit to upload my own drawing as well , which he has approved as being accurate ( at least from a aloofness – any more subtle physique divergence would be likely hidden by feathers ) .
Clearly , the new material will completely vamp our perception of what this animal looked like and probably how it comport as well . Note the downturned jaw with its procumbent tooth and the much short limb and quarter . I ’ve hear people say the new fabric makes Utahraptor “ vile ” , but I do n’t see ugly , I just see very , very unusual – like an “ ostrich bulldog ” , to use[James ] Kirkland‘s words .
