Bledel, whose father is Argentine, was interested in exploring projects that would give her an opportunity to be part of telling stories about her heritage, per the release. She met and talked with the real Miriam for hours before accepting the role.
“I was honored to play Miriam Lewin, who had a significant role in changing the course of her country’s history," she said in a statement. “My father is Argentine, and I grew up speaking Spanish at home. This podcast allowed me to better understand a crucial and harrowing chapter of Argentine history that I was aware of growing up.”
“Working with Fisher Stevens was a delight,” continued Bledel, who recorded the podcast episodes this past spring. “He was very connected to the raw emotional truth of the story and guided me to create a compelling and nuanced portrayal of Miriam’s experience.”
