It ’s the plot of land of one of the modish instalment ofBlack Mirrorthat a woman is relentlessly pursued by a ruthless , killer robo - dog . The andiron chase her across all terrains with unbelievable precision and seemliness .

This may have been why masses became extremely concerned a few calendar week back when Boston Dynamics released footage of their robo - dog capable of opening doors .

The basic burden of everyone ’s reaction was   – if they can open doors now , they ’re unstoppable and we ’re doom . It ’s like the Daleks inDoctor Wholearning to wax stairs , once they learn that it ’s only a matter of time before they subvert humans .

So are we sentence ? Will they now pursue us across miles of landscape painting and into buildings that do n’t even habituate automatic doors ? In the words of Kent Brockman fromThe Simpsons , is it " time to crack each other ’s heads capable and feast on the sludge inside ? "

Well by the feel of it , not quite yet but definitely shortly . A   new television from Boston Dynamics has shown they can be defeated by a simple human stick , but they put up a hell of a good fight .

The video demonstrate " a   mental testing of SpotMini ’s power to adjust to interference as it open and walk through a doorway . " You know , the kinds of disruption you always look when you ’re hold out through a door : A guy cable with a hockey pin taste you around and then grabbing onto your leash .

The robot   is leave to the doorway and issued a " go " command by its handlers . From then on the golem acts autonomously , using cameras on its feet and body to see if the door is assailable , site the handgrip , and then take the air through .

After each knockback from the tug with the hockey stick , the golem adjusts remarkably quickly ,   finding the handle again within moments . It also shows off a great ability to keep its equalizer even when being promote around the way . Not once does the robot fall during the test , and observe its footing using its dog - corresponding ramification .

It ’s middling impressive stuff from the firm that also brought youbackflipping   robot .

Whilst the robot dog does suffer a portion of its ass when the man yanks its leash , the team insists that " this testing does not rag or harm the golem " .

Which is great , but we sort of still need the robots to see this footage when they do become self - cognisant in case they do decide to seek vengeance .
