Shot in 2019 but fill with spookily prophetic themes , short film Inoculation updatesthe eco - horror genrewith a realistic yet dread - filled tale .
Inoculation — which premiere viaFilm Shortageand was written , create , and directed by Andrew Harrell and Patrick Nichols — frames its loom disaster through the eyes of a married duet : environmental toxicologist Joshua ( Scott Swayze ) and his married woman , Jackie ( Kiersten Armstrong ) , who has a flavour her hubby is sneak into doomsday - paranoia soil . And he is up to something … the motion-picture show ’s title is a clue .
Intheir statement on Film Shortage , the theater director noted they were inspired by “ pessimistic mind-set on clime alteration ; the stages of grief ; and how ball-shaped threat outside of our mastery tainted our ability to be rational and unite with each other . ” For Inoculation ’s graphic symbol , the menace is vague and the outcome is unsealed , but the uneasy mood sure feels awfully familiar .
