Alright , so a full - blown , Google - O.K. version of “ Google Earth survive ” is still probably 10 - 20 geezerhood out . But at least one company ( other than Google ) is pushing to make live , HD video of Earth a reality much , much rather than that .
The troupe is calledUrtheCast(pronounced “ Earthcast ” ) , andaccording to Google Creative Sandbox , their plan is to mount two cameras on the International Space Station that will not only stream live content at resolutions as low-toned as one measure per picture element , but also “ produce a television version of Google Earth with the television playback and hunt functionality of YouTube . ”
grant , UrtheCast ’s two - Cam River setup has its limitations . Google Earth Blogruns through a few of them :
1 ) For any finicky orbit , you may not be able to view the desired fix ( too far over the skyline , too much of an angle ) . You might a have to wait dozens of field to get over that spot .
2 ) day – you have to be over the placement at the right time of day .
3 ) Weather – too many variables to count a ) clouds b ) haze c ) pollution .
4 ) time of year can be a constituent – sun slant too low , and weather condition .
5 ) Conflicting chance . How do you determine which lieu to have your camera aim at when there are 100 dissimilar topographic point to purpose and you ’re moving at 17,500 miles per hour ?
